We Emigrated!

What we Like!.

  • Number 1 has to be getting the house sorted - update, almost finished!
Mat had owned the house for about three years, before Pamela came along,  and had not done a thing to do it up!  Since Pamela took over looking after the house, we have a new bathroom (from B&Q - but NEVER again. Advice, don't buy bathrooms from B&Q!!), new kitchen (from Magnet, they were great!), the place is decorated and a new home entertainment system (Mat didn't even own a CD play before meeting Pamela!) installed.  We have just recently had decking put in at the side of the house and at the back.  We don't usually like decking, but this was done by a local builder (Chris) who did a fantastic job and it looks great.  A chum of Chris's, 'Dizzy', tiled the conservatory and again has done a fab job!!  Just need to get the front facia's done and that will be about it!

  • We both like a bit of Motorcycling
Mat has a Honda CB600 which he got in 2000.  Both of us like going on bike trips and sometimes take a picnic!!  In fact, when Pamela moved down to the IOW we came down by bike.  All 500 miles!!!  Pamela was even carrying an enormous rucksack.  After two days (we took it easy), we were both shattered, but had had a great ride.

  • Travel
Both of us have a lively backpacker background, with us having gone to places like Australia, Central-East Africa, Thailand etc before we had met.  Since then, we have done a load of things, like spend a few months bumming around New Zealand in a NZ$500 Lada (great car!! Even sold for it a profit...), visited Seoul,  traveled to Namibia by car from Cape Town, holidayed in St Lucia and the Maldives and even rented an apartment in Paris for a while (Our opinion of the Tour D'Eiffel - 'A big bit of scaffolding.  Is that it?').  We plan to travel a load more and possibly live in other countries - obviously work permitting.

  • Emigrating
We are in the process of trying to emigrate to Australia.  This has been taking some time, but we expected that.  As of today, Canberra has accepted us (yippeee!!!!), but we need to go though all the paperwork.  Mat hopes to have found an employer (the very highly renowned 'IV&V' Testing company), so watch this space!
